Bug reports

Occasionally we find bugs in the current release of Venom2 or VenomIDE which may affect users. Usually a 'workaround' is possible. Bug reports and any workarounds applying to recent releases are documented on this page.

Mouse wheel doesn't scrollSometimes the mouse wheel fails to scroll through the text in an edit window.
Workaround: Clicking on an edit file tab corrects this.
Fix: None.

Find: Whole words onlyThe 'Whole words only flag' isn't always applied to the 'Find in flies option'.
Workaround: None.

Terminal takes focus from Find dialogueWhen characters come into the terminal the Find dialogue loses focus
Workaround: Stop the VM2 sending text to the terminal while using Find.

Terminal window problemsThe Venom command line cursor can sometimes disappear off the bottom of the Terminal window; in Windows 7 the Terminal window can sometimes aquire two vertical scrollbars.
Workaround: Left-dock the Terminal window.

File tabs disappearIf you have a Project open, and close one or more project files then some of the file tabs may disappear.
Workaround: Don't close files within a project, only open and close whole projects.

Bug report for Windows relating to VenomIDE

There are some bugs, or features, in Windows that can prevent VenomIDE working correctly.
SymptomExplanation, Workaround and Fix
Help not displayingSome Windows configurations may not display the .CHM Help files supplied with VenomIDE.
Workaround: Any Windows .CHM (Compiled HTML) application must be installed on a local drive (i.e. typically drive C: or D:), as a Microsoft Windows security problem prohibits its use on a network drive.
Fix: None
In previous versions: n/a
Error message on starting VenomIDEA Microsoft Windows XP security update in 2007 caused trouble with a number of applications including the Micro-Robotics IDE.
Workaround: None
Fix: If an error message pops up when you start the IDE, see if it matches that shown on Microsoft knowledge base article 935448 and if so, apply the fix suggested on that page. For other error messages or if that doesn't work, please email techsupport@microrobotics.co.uk with full text of the error message, and any other details such as which Windows version you are using, and we'll investigate.
